Part 3: Monetary policy in today's fiat money system
Part 4: Financial crises and the deficiencies of the current monetary system 
Part 5: Alternatives to the current monetary system: "free banking" and crypto-currencies 
Part 6: A deeper look at crypto-currencies and decentralized finance (Defi) 

Compétence à acquérir :

  Course objective: 

• Learn about the history of money and banking
• Learn about the process of money creation in both the commodity money system and the fiat money system
• Learn about monetary policy in the current monetary system
• Learn about financial crises and the deficiencies of the current monetary system
• Learn about alternatives to the current monetary system, namely "free banking" and crypto-currencies
• Learn about the blockchain technology, crypto-currencies and decentralized finance (Defi)

Mode de contrôle des connaissances :

One final 2-hour closed-book exam.
