Introduction to Anglo-American contracts law

ECTS : 3

Description du contenu de l'enseignement :

Drawing extensively upon English, French and European law and beyond (US, Canada, Australia), the objective of this course is to explore comparative approaches to contract law in the common law & civil law. Analysis is undertaken of a key series of issues from a comparative and European perspective, including principles underlying contract law, the formation of a contract, requirements of reciprocity, and approach to remedies. The course convenor, Pr. Duncan Fairgrieve, adopts an interactive teaching method and a practical approach to the study of this topic, using practical examples and broaching issues such as drafting of contracts, with course assessment by way of problem questions, hypothetical case scenarios and a mock trial.
